Who built Tuition OS?

Ch Sreemayee (BTF-004) and Sanjana Labishetty (BTF-005) joined Build Theory just after finishing Intermediate, before starting B.Tech. Both were very new to coding and technology. Sreemayee now studies at Geethanjali College of Engineering and Technology and Sanjana at CVR College of Engineering.

A problem close to home

Sreemayee's parents run a traditional, offline tuition centre with no dedicated software. The two fellows wanted to find out whether they could solve the problems the centre and its parents faced.

What the interviews revealed

They sat down with Sreemayee's parents and interviewed them about how the centre runs. The conversation surfaced problems Sreemayee had never noticed, despite growing up around the business. In her words: "I was born and brought up with my parents seeing tuitions, but I never knew this many problems existed." They then checked the problems with other tuition centres too.

Building it

Using the Build Theory frameworks they built Tuition OS: one place to manage students, fees, attendance, recorded classes and staff. Their biggest challenge was understanding how a tuition centre works end to end, not just individual tasks but how the work connects from start to finish.

Where it is now

Tuition OS went live on Day 29 of the fellowship. It is used every day at Sreemayee's parents' tuition centre, which serves about 100 students. Their next goal is to make it multi-tenant so it can serve other tuition centres too. Seeing it come to life made both of them confident they can build products and solve real problems.

What this story shows

Knowing a business is not the same as understanding it. Structured interviews revealed problems that years of familiarity had hidden.
