Build Theory Cohort 01: what 24 fellows built in 14 teams
By Thakur Prashanth · October 15, 2026 · 9 min read
Build Theory Cohort 01 (BT-01) had 24 fellows working in 14 teams. Most of them had never used GitHub or written production code. In 30 days, with 1:1 mentorship and AI tools, they went from a real problem to a working product. Several are live and used every day: Tuition OS runs a real tuition centre, Monetiq is used by at least 10 students, and Madli shipped in 24 days with users in the US and India.

What the cohort shows
Start from lived experience, then validate it. Tuition OS, Boutiqo, SignMate and Orbit all began with a problem close to the fellow, and interviews showed what to actually solve.
Talk to users before building. Teams interviewed parents and tuition centres, visited boutiques, spent time at a foundation for the blind and spoke to 20+ potential users.
MVP scope is a skill. Fellows learned to cut broad ideas down to a first version that works.
Hard technical problems became learning. OCR bill scanning, Google Maps and LLM integrations, object recognition and Indian Sign Language models.
A product is not a repository. The proudest outcomes were products people use every day, not code alone.
