Boutiqo: two mechanical engineering students build SaaS for small boutiques
By Thakur Prashanth · October 15, 2026 · 6 min read
C. Siddarth Ram (BTF-013) and Katukuri Rithvik (BTF-014), mechanical engineering students at MVSR, built Boutiqo, an order and delivery platform for small boutiques. It is already used by Rithvik's mother, and five more boutiques are in pilot talks.

Who built Boutiqo?
C. Siddarth Ram (BTF-013) and Katukuri Rithvik (BTF-014) are third-year mechanical engineering students at MVSR Engineering College. They had built projects mixing technology and mechanics, but never a product aimed at a validated, real-world problem.
The problem at home
Rithvik's mother runs a small boutique on her own and struggled with day-to-day operations: customer measurements, cloth details, order stages, delivery dates and payments, all tracked by hand. The team realised the problem was close to home and probably shared by many small boutiques.
Discovery in Hyderabad
They decided to build a SaaS platform for small boutiques in Hyderabad. They visited several boutiques, interviewed potential customers, including Rithvik's mother, and used those conversations to test assumptions and define the MVP.
What Boutiqo does
Boutiqo brings the whole order journey into one system: customer order profiles, measurements, order stages in a calendar view, delivery dates and payments.

Where it is now
Boutiqo is already used by Rithvik's mother, and the team is in final discussions with five other boutiques about pilots. Both fellows learned to understand customers, ask better questions and find the right problem before building.
What this story shows
A family business can be your first customer, but validating with other businesses tests whether the problem is bigger than one household.
Frequently asked questions
What is Boutiqo?

Who uses Boutiqo?
Rithvik's mother uses it to run her boutique, and five more boutiques are in pilot discussions.
Can mechanical engineering students build software products?
Yes. Both founders are mechanical students who learned to build Boutiqo with AI tools in Build Theory.
Build your own product in Cohort 02
This story is part of Build Theory Cohort 01: what 24 fellows built. Build Theory is a 30-day online fellowship, based in Hyderabad, where students and early professionals go from a real problem to a live product with 1:1 mentorship and AI tools. Any year, any branch.
