Diagnosis: two CSE students turn career confusion into a skill-gap tool

Kunamaneni Tanusree (BTF-016) and Pavani Yejarla (BTF-017) built Diagnosis, an AI tool that compares a student's skills with a target role and gives next steps they can start the same evening. It is in final internal pilots.

Who built Diagnosis?

Kunamaneni Tanusree (BTF-016) and Pavani Yejarla (BTF-017) are third-year CSE students at MVSR Engineering College. They joined unsure which problem to solve, and then recognised one they lived themselves: not knowing where they stand, what they want to become, and how far they are from it.

The philosophy: act tonight

They wanted more than broad career advice. Their aim was to give steps a student can start that same evening, instead of pushing them towards long courses before they take any action.

What Diagnosis does

Diagnosis compares a student's current skills with the requirements of their target role, gives a readiness score, highlights missing skills and recommends prioritised next steps. It also explains the market and domain the student is aiming for. For example, a student who wants a role at Amazon would get an explanation of how that role is changing in an AI-shaped market, then guidance and next steps.

How they built it

They built research agents and guidance agents using several AI APIs and tools.

Where it is now

Diagnosis is operational and in final internal pilots, with a wider release expected soon. The key question for the next stage is whether students actually complete the recommended actions.

What this story shows

Career guidance is more useful when it combines where the student is now, how the target domain works, and an immediate next action.
