[ The build ]
A real problem, a real fix.
Every Cohort 01 fellow started with people, not an idea: find who has the problem, talk to them, then build.
The problem
Third- and fourth-year engineering students often struggle to determine whether their skills match evolving industry requirements.
Scattered information across AI tools, YouTube, job descriptions, and other sources makes it difficult to identify relevant skill gaps and prioritize preparation.
Built for: Primarily third- and fourth-year CSE students preparing for internships, campus placements, or their first full-time jobs.
What Kunamaneni built
A diagnostic engine that compares a student's current skills with the requirements of their target job role, generates a readiness score, highlights missing skills, and recommends prioritized next steps.
How AI is used. The concept uses AI-assisted market research and personalized insight generation to translate job-market requirements into actionable guidance.

- Diagnosis: two CSE students turn career confusion into a skill-gap tool
Kunamaneni Tanusree (BTF-016) and Pavani Yejarla (BTF-017) built Diagnosis, an AI tool that compares a student's skills with a target role and gives next steps they can start the same evening. It is in final internal pilots.

How Build Theory helped
Build Theory helped Pavani and Tanusree move from identifying a career-readiness problem to defining a product through ideation, PRD, and MVP planning, prioritizing the core diagnostic experience over job searching, courses, or continuous student tracking. They didn't even build a product before and now they are confident enough to build any product.
Skills Kunamaneni built by doing
- Ideation
- Problem Identification
- Customer Interview
- PRD and MVP document creation
- Design skills
- Iterative design
- Git
- VS code
- Supabase
- Netlify

I don't understand AI yet. Can I still do this?
Yes. If you've used ChatGPT, you can start. Your mentor shows you which AI tools to use, and how, as you build.
Won't this eat into my DSA prep?
No. It's about 3–5 hours a week, and you plan them around your classes and prep. Build Theory runs alongside your DSA prep, not instead of it. Coding rounds still matter. This gives you something to talk about once you clear them.
Is it online or offline?
Fully online, so you can do it from anywhere, around your classes. The one exception is Demo Day: one in-person day in Hyderabad where you present what you built.
What happens after I apply?
Fill a short application. About 5 minutes, no payment. Prashanth calls you within 24 hours to talk through your idea and see if it's a fit. If it's a fit, you confirm your seat with ₹500. It's adjusted against the fee and non-refundable.
