In Divyasree's words
Before the fellowship, I didn't know what PRD or MVP meant. I thought building a project was just about writing code
Now I understand what needs to happen before building, and how important it is to plan and structure a product first.

[ The build ]
A real problem, a real fix.
Every Cohort 01 fellow started with people, not an idea: find who has the problem, talk to them, then build.
The problem
Visually impaired users lack a single, accessible system that can understand their surroundings in real time and communicate useful information through audio, helping them navigate and perform everyday tasks more independently and safely.
What Divyasree built
Cue is an AI-powered assistive system that uses computer vision, location awareness, and audio feedback to help visually impaired people understand their surroundings, avoid obstacles, access information, and move more independently.

- Cue: three CSE students build AI smart glasses for visually impaired people
G. Divyasree (BTF-010), K. Rishitha Purna (BTF-011) and Keshamoni Nikhila (BTF-012) did field research at Sri Matha Foundation for the Blind, then built Cue: AI smart glasses that detect objects, read text and currency aloud. It is being piloted with visually impaired users.

How Build Theory helped
Build Theory helped the Cue team turn their broad idea into a clear, focused, and buildable product. Since they had never developed a project before, the fellowship is guiding them through the entire journey - from scoping down what they actually want to build and understanding their users, to validating the idea with real users, designing the product, understanding the technology, developing the Android application and website, and deploying the product. The focus is not just on helping them build Cue, but on teaching them the mindset and process to independently take an idea from concept to a real, usable product.
Skills Divyasree built by doing

I don't understand AI yet. Can I still do this?
Yes. If you've used ChatGPT, you can start. Your mentor shows you which AI tools to use, and how, as you build.
Won't this eat into my DSA prep?
No. It's about 3–5 hours a week, and you plan them around your classes and prep. Build Theory runs alongside your DSA prep, not instead of it. Coding rounds still matter. This gives you something to talk about once you clear them.
Is it online or offline?
Fully online, so you can do it from anywhere, around your classes. The one exception is Demo Day: one in-person day in Hyderabad where you present what you built.
What happens after I apply?
Fill a short application. About 5 minutes, no payment. Prashanth calls you within 24 hours to talk through your idea and see if it's a fit. If it's a fit, you confirm your seat with ₹500. It's adjusted against the fee and non-refundable.
